    Cool Today Was Fun

    Today, I saved a wolf,
    from buying chocolate
    with nuts and cranberries,
    Happy wolf, smile,
    smile and howl.

    I got tea, at Teazers,
    and conversed
    with an old good friend,
    and smiled, laughed,
    and shared.

    Next stop, Valentino's,
    with Hedwig posters
    and a leopard print chairs,
    well, one chair,
    but a leopard print chair.

    Afterwords, a garden,
    a “hippie” garden
but a hippie garden with hats,
    instruments, books,
    and candles.

    I wanted one, a candle,
    but I couldn't decide
    so Julie suggested cheap stores,
    cheap yes, but dull?
    Not at all.

    I got a toy, a harmonica,
    stickered with Winnie The Poo
though it doesn't work that well,
    but also, a coke,
    and a candle.

I won't bother you with a pesky explanation of how I got stuck in traffic,
    so cutting to the chase,
I got home and lit a candle and thought,

    “So finally, we meet,
    sweet scented flame
oh how I missed your warmth,
    your comfort, even,
    your light.”

Your use of "even" in the final line seems to stand the poem on its head, as if to say that all this searching was not in the hope of finding an answer,

A touch of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' - the simple things in life and you do a great job of bring it all to a rewarding conclusion.
