Smile Please Take this Red Red Rose

    Please take

    This red red rose

    If not,

    Think for how long

    Her succulent petals will last.

    Thanks, Hawkman,
    For the kind words
    As usual.

    You're the most
    Gentle here!
    In my mind's eye,
    You're not so much
    A hawkman
    As a gentleman!

    Thank you Jerry
    For your honest
    As well as gentle opinion.
    But I'm all at sea,
    Concerning a beginning unfinished.
    Could you throw more light
    So that I can see?

that would depend on me having a clue what I am talking about which is always debatable but I meant the words were poetic but more of a snippet you find and wonder what the whole may have been

    Smile Great!

A lovely and thought-provoking one. It reminds me of one thing, when we are young we are full of young blood and are active and when we become old we become like the dried old petals of the rose. Also your style of writing is great, just 4 lines to write but has 40 verses of meaning. Keep it up!

    Thanks again, Jerrybaldy.
It's a snippet you might well say.
I'd rather let the whole in readers' mind stay.
Or a tip of the iceberg I may say:
    something better left unsaid!

    Thank you, adit,
    for the encouraging words.
    That's it!
Would you spare me more words
of what the feelings you felt
    after reading those few words?

This is a beautiful poem. The impact of the poem is intense and I internalize it. Poetry must serve two ends at the same time-entertain and instruct. Philosophical poems are not always entertainingly; they exhaust us and I withdraw from them. But some poems are really beautifully written and this particular poem is rich in its symbolic content. I expect the poet will come up with a bunch of such poems to entertain his or her readers. This is one of the poems I feel deeply touched upon of late.

“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””

“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

Thanks, blazeofglory, for the nice comment.

I couldn't agree with you more on the two ends of a poem.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. And if it's combined with something meaningful, then it's not only a joy but forever a daily bread!

By any chance, are you really from Kathmandu, the home of Shangri-la?

Try to live in harmony with people and nature
