    Names for exotic dancers.

For those of you that write either professionally or for self enjoyment, it might pay to reflect for a moment on the possible future need to portray a scenario involving a glitzy night club or a seedy dive. For this to be successful, appropriate stage names are required for "strippers", or if you prefer an element of delicacy, "Exotic dancers."

The nom-de-plumes should be exciting and as any good dancer will tell you, classy. Names that fall into these categories include: fruit, cars and precious stones.

In the fruit division some names are renowned. "Peaches & Cherry" for example. Some are strictly no no. Can you visualize a pole dancer named "Bananas or Pinapple?" Mind you there is a hint of promise in "Kiwi Fruit!"

The same analysis can be applied to cars. Combine man's two favourite hobbies - fast cars & faster women & you have a winner. The best car names for strippers are the really expensive ones e.g. "Mercedes or Porsche". Out are: "Beetle, Civic, Rover & Sundance". Possibilities are names like: "Lamborghini Lucy or Rolls Royce Regina".

Finally for precious stones. Like cars their success reflects their price. No one will ever get sick of names like "Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby or Opal".

So here are a few I have been considering for a nightclub scene in Jamestown, Accra:

    FRUIT RELATED NAMES:

    Apricots O'Reilly.

    Jackfruit Jennifer.

    Melons Morgan.

    CAR RELATED NAMES:

    BMW Brenda.

    Bronco Berta.

    Caravelle Claudine.

    Firebird St Clair.

    Ingrid Impala.

    Pathfinder Paula.

    Xiaoling Xantia.

    Zandalee Zephyr.

    GEM RELATED NAMES:

    African Jade.

    Awesome Amber.

    Biggs Jasper III.

    Midge Stone Madge.

Can't I just use my porn star name?

"But do you really, seriously, Major Scobie," Dr. Sykes asked, "believe in hell?"
    "Oh, yes, I do."
    "In flames and torment?"
"Perhaps not quite that. They tell us it may be a permanent sense of loss."
"That sort of hell wouldn't worry me," Fellowes said.
"Perhaps you've never lost anything of importance," Scobie said.

    Of course you can.
You worked for your name and one cannot but appreciate the stamina, imagination and dedication involved.

It's not easy, it takes talent...

The talant and panache of an artist can bring something into the world that didn't exist before. Can you do it without destroying something else?

There used to be this sleezy restaurant below a strip club I used to go to. I didn't go for the strippers though, although you could hear the music through the ceiling, the restaurant on the bottom floor had 24 hour breakfast service. Anyway, one of the strippers they had there was Tangerine Dream, her act involved inserting various fruit into her you know what.

Odd thing about stripper names is that they're often pretty much the same thing as drag names. A drag king I know uses the name Dicksen Cyder.

Montreal is one of the few places you can find strip clubs tucked in between high end boutiques right in the downtown core. They snuck in during the recession of the 80s and they're being weeded out. The more successful ones have managed to keep their place downtown though.

Haha, I tried to find a picture of the strip club I was talking about, but I did find this helpful restaurant review:

    The 411

All the way in NDG on St Jacques street, surrounded by motels and next to a strip joint, Picasso’s is one place you would never consider walking into; unless you are using one of the other 2 fine establishments previously mentioned, or you are familiar with the legend that is Picasso’s. Any Montrealer at one point or another has heard of Picasso’s with its 24 hours, 7 days a week breakfast for a fair price. It is a veritable landmark where people will come in at all hours to eat and it’s one of the few places in the city where you can eat breakfast at 3 A.M.

    I like Firebird St. Claire.

I once had a stripper in a story named Tittie Winks.

Another name I liked involved a black stripper that was over five hundred pounds. The name represented the parts that jiggled and overflowed--Boobascious Bootang.

Animals are sometimes used (in names, I mean!). I became aware of a stripper after I bought the VHS of a movie I had seen on TV. On TV--you only saw the woman's boots. VHS showed the whole thing. Her name was Kitten Navidad.
I don't care if the glass is half full or half empty, I'm just glad to have a glass.

I lived & worked in Fort McMurray in Alberta for two years & the town seemed to be virtually 95% male, mainly itinerant workers for the various oil sands projects. Needless to say strip clubs were attracted by the business there. But I must confess I had never seen anything like these Canadian establishments before. You sat around a low stage & threw "loonies" into a cup the young lady used to hold at strategic locations on her torso. If you so much as put a pinky over the invisible line between the stage & the audience, huge bouncers leapt on you. At the end of the performance the girls used to produce a magnetic belt to gather up the "loonies" that had missed the mark!

Sometimes a single name is more powerful e.g. Madonna; Pink; Stint.

I have this one in mind:

    CHERRI

"But do you really, seriously, Major Scobie," Dr. Sykes asked, "believe in hell?"
    "Oh, yes, I do."
    "In flames and torment?"
"Perhaps not quite that. They tell us it may be a permanent sense of loss."
"That sort of hell wouldn't worry me," Fellowes said.
"Perhaps you've never lost anything of importance," Scobie said.
