On the suggestion of my sociology professor I just picked up The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce. I find it to be nothing short of hilarious. I'm a big fan of Vonnegut and authors who use humor and cynicism to point out how ridiculous humanity is and Bierce is nothing short of fantastic. What are some of your favorite Ambrose Bierce quotes? Either from Devil's Dictionary or another of his works. This is the first thing of his I've read and I look forward to picking up others.
Admirability- My kind of ability, as opposed to your kind of ability.
Attorney- A person legally appointed to mismanage one's affairs which one has not himself the skill to rightly mismanage.
Critic- A person who boasts himself as hard to please because nobody tries to please him.
Ocean-A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man-who has no gills.
