What I Talk About When I Talk About Running

I recently started reading Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running and I hate to say this but so far I'm disappointed. Murakami is one of my favorite authors and I love his work, but I find this book somewhat boring.

    What are your thoughts?

No thoughts (yet) but I wandered in here because I thought it was a rip-off of Carver (What we talk about when we talk about love)

I may even be right....Murakami you say? Right wikipedia...feed me some lies...

I loved this book. It's not fiction, so unlike any of Murakami's other books. It's more a memoir of a period of time, related to Murakami's love (if that's what you'd call it, obsession, drive, perhaps) of marathon running and his specific experiences of particular marathons.

I thought it was a very insightful read, especially if you're a little curious about the semi-reclusive Murakami, or interested in the process of writing. He elicits a number of similarities about writing and long distance running which seem very valid and reassuring to the budding writer. I found it a very easy going read, and very enjoyable.

It takes awhile for me to warm up whenever I sit down to a Murakami book, but whenever I do, I am rewarded with his gift of prose.
