    Through the Glass

    There once was a man who dreamt.
    His youth, expiring.
    Escape would be nice.
    Decisions to be made, the hour was prime.
    If a path was not chosen, he would run out of time.
    So run he did, toward the door.
    But it was only a window.
    And he could not escape.

    After that sequence of relatively flat, authoritative stauements, the poem seems to cry out for a rhyming couplet to conclude it.
