What comes to mind for me are lyrics that come from a Canadian band, RUSH, who wrote Closer To The Heart . Stand-alone poetry methinks.
Then of course is Tom Sawyer ... love it.
Thinking also of Neil Young, with his lyrics to the incredible music of Harvest Moon.
And, although often 'off colour', the NIN lyrics to a whole lotta songs. But poems, nonetheless. Luv it.
