I don't know where to put my vote but I liked it because it protested cruelty and injustice. I also found it interesting. I've read it more than once.

    "Janet! Donkeys!"

The showdown between Betsy Trotwood and Edward Murdstone was one of the most entertaining things I've ever read. I love this novel. It's funny and moving and oh goodness the prose... Mr. Dickens never wrote a bad sentence in his life.

Odd, that! I've never found the phrase "It sucked beyond belief" in any of the English exams or critical appraisals I've done, or at least, not until today. One is, to quote the Dr. Johnson, "Gobsmacked!"

I didn't think it was the best novel in the world or the best novel Dickens has ever written. But I don't think it is a bad book. It does have some really boring and uninteresting part, nevertheless, it also contain scenes where you can't help but be glue to the book.

After reading the book, I can reconsider a few things:

    1. I hate Mr. Micawber's letters
    2. I love Anges
    3. I love Anges.
    4. I love Anges.
    5. Mrs. Strong speech was amazing. It reflects many truths in life, and by far one of the best scene in the novel. The quotes that you can extract there is priceless.
"The mistake of an undisciplined heart." ; “There can be no disparity in marriage like unsuitability of mind and purpose.”; " .. found love on a rock."

I hope you enjoy the novel as much as i did.

My favorite book! It's a novel where you can find anything you'd like to find in a book: love, fun, humour, passion, betrayal, friendship, social issues, drama... It's a very moving novel with lots of wonderful characters. I also like the depth of the characters. It's no surprise that this was Freud's most beloved book!

I agree; I dreaded turning each page at the thought of yet another letter from Mr. Micawber.
