Hey I have an assignment in which I have to explore the following question:
From what perspective is Racism seen in Huckleberry Finn?
And I am not sure what to write about. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

There once was a scotsman named Drew
Who put too much wine in his stew
He felt a bit drunk
And fell off his bunk
And landed smack into his shoe ~(C) Ms Niamh Anne King
I think the general consensus is that Twain parodies the institution of slavery to show that it is immoral. But at the same time, Jim isn't portrayed in a completely favorable light.
Here's a bit more on race in the book; also check out the "quotes" tab: http://www.shmoop.com/theme/literatu...finn/race.html
Good luck!

Here a few questions for you:
When is the assignment due? What are you writing it for ie a HS english class, college class or what? Is the assignment supposed to be a certain length? Finally, have you posed your questions to the teacher who gave you the assignment?
A few topics that I would consider choosing one from:
Was Mark Twain a racist? (NO)
How have views on racism changed from Mark Twain's time to ours in the 21st-century? Cite examples from Huckleberry Finn.
Should Huckleberry Finn be banned from HS libraries because of its (alleged) racism? (Certainly NOT, in my opinion!)
You could also try posing your questions to your friendly local librarian!
If God lived on Earth, people would break his windows.
