Metal dog sculpture in Little River art gallery

    Robot dog, I love you.
Although I do not have the
    two thousand dollars or so
to buy you, you're still waiting,
a happy puppy, scratching clanky cool
with a motorcycle body, and a head
    helmeted like Vader,
and a sparkplug tail, a dog
    impervious to tooth or nail
    or bullets.
    And one day
    when the economy is better
and when my wife lets me and
    if I have discretionary spending
of two thousand dollars or so,
providing the art gallery owners haven't gone bankrupt and
providing you have no other master,
you will be there to guard my house.
    I will call you Chip
and you will whirr with delight
and leap bionically metres up into the air
to catch hubcap frizbees in the park
and when my days grow long you will not rust
my faithful metal hound, for I will be your master.

I really liked this silas. And how creative you were with the hubcap frisbee and whirring with delight.
The title made me think of the mechanical hound from fahrenhiet 451.

Everything becomes irrelevant, when the sky tears open.

"Hey Kevin." "What?" "Theres a ditch there." "Sh*t!"

Thanks Kevin. I might read this one in public, it should get a laugh. Is that 'Kryptonite Lager' you're drinking?

One of the happiest (and most funny) love poems I've ever read! And that promise at the end, is it not the same that we long to make to all our lovers, that our love will keep them forever young, hopeful - and free of rust!

God bless your capacity for happiness!!

Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure about its poemness, but I just went with the joy when writing it. It hid in my poetry notebook for a while.

(My dad's name is Chip. !!!)

The dog actually made me think of Rush from Mega Man, but I'm a nerd.

--- Your robot dog is the PS3 I may never have, or the Complete Collection of Calvin Hobbes I've been drooling over for god knows how long. This poem made me smile, hugely so. Well done, Silas. Such joy!
Then she would run until morning to ease the ache; swifter than rain, swift as loss, racing to catch up with the time when she had known nothing at all but the sweetness of being herself.

Glad you brought Chip out of its dog house in your poetry book, Silas. It gave me a big smile. Very imaginative!
