Thread: Palm Pilot PDF Reader

    Palm Pilot PDF Reader

    I own a Palm Pilot.

    I just visited this link

    http://www.adobe.com/products/acroba...erforpalm.html

My thought is to experiment which reading literature on the palm pilot.

But here is what I find interesting:

Many books are available for free as text files from Gutenberg project.

I have a VERY inexpensive program from http://www.verypdf.com which allows me to convert anything I can print into a PDF.

My plan is to download the free text versions, use verypdf to create a pdf, then read it on my palm pilot.

Should it be the case that size/memory is a problem, then I can always divide up the text file, creating smaller pdfs.

I'm not certain how comfortable it will be to read the small screen, but if I never try, then I shall never know.

It would sure save me money, and it would be easier to carry a palm pilot than some of the large books I might want to read.

Not sure if to respond in any way to this...
But I have a strong aversion to PDFs, how can you read them? They're just sooo... illegible.

Indeed, I was hoping for any sort of feedback, e.g. "Oh, that is a dreadful idea because....", or "Gosh I thought everyone was using their palm pilot, why I havent read a real book in a year."

I do have some misgivings about the whole idea, but, I have a palm pilot to try out my idea,.... and the idea of free downloads of books is very attractive. Of course, IF I am near a desktop, then I would be foolish to use a palm pilot. The palm pilot would only be useful when travelling, and of course, there is the issue of how long the battery charge would last.....

Oh, if you were expecting 'Gosh, I thought everyone was using their palm pilot' kinda response... I have no idea what a palm pilot is, guessed it's a small piece of technology that reads PDFs... so sorry, no such feedback from me

    Using the expansion memory

The deal with the expansion card is quite deceptive. They sell it to you, but dont tell you that you have to download a special 3rd party program, and then trick the palm pilot into recognizing the card. I shall look and see what the link is to download the program. I did it and got it to work..... but that was almost 2 years ago... so I must brush up and search on google.

Take a look at this link, its not what I was looking for, but it allows you to read documents on a palm pilot and access expansion memory.

There is a totally free shareware program called filez for your palm pilot, but I cant remember whether that allows direct access of expansion card.

Here is a link on palm pilot software which looks very helpful...

And here is another link regarding FILEZ utility
