Hi, new to the forums, and I need a suggestion.

Hey there, new to the forums here.

I've been getting interested in french literature, and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on a good french hardcover edition of "Le Comte de Monte-Cristo".

I would like the book to still be available to purchase new.

    Thanks,

Does it need to be hard cover?

I say this because I find the Livre de Poche-classics the best. They are paper back, but they offer commentaries and backround done by people who wrote academic papers about it. Like that you have a ot of additional info on the story which is otherwise closed to you, or you have to look a year for it...
The base of the story, what is right and wrong historically (figures and places), what ideas are in there etc. Very interesting.
Usually it also features a little backround on the writer and experiences in his life that were relevant to the book.
On top of that the book of Livre de Poche are also kind of cheap, so the best of two worlds...

Hard cover editions I can't comment on, sorry. But I though this would be helpful.

Well, yeah. I like to have hardcovers because of the way I usually read.
