Earthquake Felt Across Parts of England

Any of you Brits feel this?

Earthquake Felt Across Parts of England

MANCHESTER, England (AP) - An earthquake struck Britain early Wednesday and was felt across large parts of the country. No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
The 4.7-magnitude quake struck at about 1 a.m. and was centered about 125 miles north of London, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

"It was like a huge freight train outside the front door," Sky News reporter Lukwesa Burak reported from Leicestershire in central England. "The entire house seemed to shake."

Many other people in southern, central and northern England reported feeling their homes shaken by the earthquake in a country where such tremors are uncommon.
I bet it's because Sleepy was in the country.

I did not feel them in England.. I felt about 4 of 6/7 earthquakes that happened in Lebanon in less than a week. That was kinda funny to me, I laughed each time I felt one - especially those of the night.

it's all the Cherry Bakewells she ate (j/k Sleepy )

Yes, sadly I was still awake and I might have been surfing Lit-net when it happened. My first thought was 'cor, my hubby really shakes the house when he turns over in bed' but then the shaking went on

they are saying there was two. The first was 4.7 and its epicentre was in Lincolnshire and the second one was 5.2 and its epicentre was around manchester. I'm amazed we didnt feel some of the shock here. I mean, we aret that far from britain, and the land range it covered during the first one would have definitely ment the second should have been felt but there has been no mention.
You gotta feel kind of sorry for Britain these days. Crazy floods, tornados and now really bad earthquakes.

Sorry ?- don't be silly - we handled the Blitz - floods and tornados are nothing!

If worse comes to worse - we can always swim to Ireland?

Oh no! Not another British invasion!
BTW Ireland is probably not the best option! Aparantly St Patrick prayed that if the world was to End that God would Take Ireland first and put her below the sea...

EVERYONE I know felt it where I live. I think it was only me who managed to sleep through it. I just miss everything...

How could you sleep right through it? The second ones (5.2) epicentre was around Manchester! You would have felt it more than most of the country!
Maybe you toss in your sleep so when everything was shaking, it didnt make a difference because you were moving anyway!

I know, I woke up blissfully unaware of the whole thing!
Maybe I'm just hopeless, even in sleep...

One of my grandmothers brothers slept through the Fairview bombings durning the WW2 (when the germans accidentally bombed Dublin). The bombs went off around the corner from their home and he heard nothing!

I've only ever felt one earthquake.
I was in Grand Caneria, and i was lying awake one morning when everything started to shake slightly and then a few of the glasses that were left on the table out side shook themselves off the table and smashed.

Great... I just accepted a job in Epsom and England is being ravaged by earthquakes and other severe wether phenomenons. (I don't think that's a word, apologies.)
Naked except for a cigarette, you let your mind drift and forget your disbelief. Feel the chill down your back and the flutter of wings through dandelion fields, and forget the pull of gravity in a night without stars.

I lack eloquence and commitment to my arguments. They are half baked, and I will begin passionately, and then abandon them.
