    Need Help In Identifying a Passage from the Iliad

    Im looking for a passage in the Iliad that contains the phrase:
    'omophrona thumon ekontes
    "Our Hearts Are United"

    I have looked through this text of the Iliad and i couldn't find anything. Problem is that this was probably taken from a translation that was published around the 1840s. All my dictionaries are Attic and not Homeric. Also, the words i did find have multiple translations, eg. 'thumon' could be translated as hearts, courage, spirit.

    If anyone can offer any thoughts or direction to find this passage it would be incredibly appreciated

    Sorry I checked out my copy and I don't seem to find anything remotely like what you are describing. Is this for a class?

    Your fraternity? Do these still exist, most places have them banned?

    Yes, they still exist.

    As a TDXer myself (Epsilon), I've spent the last 6 hours or so trying to find where that line occurs in the Iliad. I busted my ***, and the closest I've found is
    ὁμόφρονα θυμὸν ἔχουσιν
    (Omophrona thumon ekontes, I think)
    In line 263 of Book Chi (Fitting, isn't it?) or XXII

    Unfortunately, I can't find any english versions that attempted to preserve the poetic nature of the greek, so I don't know the exact translation

    Ομόφρονα = (having the) same beliefs
    Θυμόν = one's heart
    έχουσιν = (they) have

    A rough translation is : 'They have the same heart'
    or 'They share the same heart'

    But i don't remember from which part this is (it's been ages since i finished school and i was taught the iliad in school ).

    The passage you mentioned is fitting.
