was Nietzsche not familiar with kilts i wonder?

"It is not a lack of love, but a lack of pants that makes unhappy marriages."--Friedrich Nietzsche

i mean, the men might be okay with it but women can probably only stand so much male underwear.

I think this refers to the German saying "to have the pants one.". The one who has "the pants on", man or woman, is the head of the marriage. A man "without his pants on" would be a weakling in this context. Translated literally to English it doesn´t make sense, as you rightly noted, bounty.

“Freedom is not achieved by satisfying desire, but by eliminating pants.” --Epictetus

its not very well known that Epictetus was an original promoter of nudist colonies.

do you know if you do an internet search for "diseased pants," nothing shows up. so a part of Shakespeare and old English history has apparently been lost.

’tis no sin for a man to labor in his pants." --Shakespeare henry iv
