    Need help - Cultural Studies

I need to find a book about cultural studies by American author.

I have works by Hoggart, Paul Gilroy, Z. Sardar, and my personal favourite, Roland Barthes. But my professor says it's not enough! She insists on using American author, as the book I need to analyse is also by an American author. (Guess she never heard of globalization ) Plus, it must be someone recent - published after 2000, that is.

    Any ideas? Please?

I did some research on Google already, of course, but I'd prefer personal recommendations, something you know is good and helpful.

Ruby Payne has written many books about poverty and unspoken rules of economic class. I think these books are must reads. I like this one best.

Thanks, the book sounds interesting, but I was thinking of something more general. Pherhaps some book that American professors presribe to their students at the beginning of the Cultural Studies course.

My problem is that I only read British theories and as far as I know, there are differences between British and American "Cultural Studies". I know nothing about American theories, so I guess I should start with some introduction... to find out what differencies are 9and if I can use something of what I learned already after all or not).

The Lexus and The Olive Tree -- Thomas Friedman

It's about globalization and also the writer is an American journalist
