    Between Worlds

    .
    Between worlds
Lies a place of great peace and wisdom.
    Once in a long while,
    we are allowed the briefest
    of glimpses,
    and the opportunity
    to fill a golden flask
    with a silken silver liquid,
sparkling with crushed crystals floating therein.

    Kneel at the pool.
Give thanks for this gift of the gods.
Drink deeply of love, beauty, health, faith.
Look upon your fellows through eyes of clarity,
    in a spirit of acceptance.
    Allow this moment
    to drench you
    within.

The imageries are very fine in here.
One thing though, it may be one of my many mistakes, but wouldnt it be "Drink deeply to" and not "Drink deeply of"....?

I felt "drink deeply of" was the act of taking into one self from the pool, receiving the gifts offered. I love this, but I love everything I've read of yours, Cdn.

Ah yes, those brief glimpses. I love those, and this.
I'm in love with The Vinegar Man and Mr. Tanner, but be careful, it could just as easily be you.

    That is soooo pretty
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

Symphony.... me glad you like. And Granny's right, "of" is the correct word.... you are invited to partake of the love, beauty, health, and faith, all contained within the magical liquid.

Granny, you make me blush!! Thank you so much!! I have a sense that you and I have very very similar views on how the world works.

Amp and Dramasnot6.... Thanks for your comments. Very much appreciated.

PrinceMyshkin, thank you SO much for your comment. And may I also take this opportunity to thank you for the comment you haven't left yet on the poem I haven't posted yet tomorrow? There. Good. I'm glad we got that out of the way.

That poem you're going to write tomorrow,
might there be Vichysoisse in it?
I've got me a hankering for some.
Or is it just going to be
    some of that same goddamned
    poetic stuff?

    I love it!
I love the sound of the following lines:

    to fill a golden flask
    with a silken silver liquid,
sparkling with crushed crystals floating therein.

    Those words sound fantastic!!!

    Vichysoisse and sirloin steak
lightly sauteed with onions and garlic
and just a hint of thyme....
    Oh yes, we'll have those.
    Oh wait, we just did.

    Exclamation

My People often said that there were those who could walk between the worlds. These people they said, had the Totem or Spirit Guide of The Eagle. They alone could exist in both worlds at once. You may have been touched by an eagle... My Totem is the Cougar, I can see the world at times, but I am anchored here to be sometimes misunderstood...

    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

you say "between worlds," would that between-ness be a world too? stating "world" to create a "not" -this-world juxtapositioning is quite unnecessary given you show and tell us after.

and what you tell us, it seems, is that there is a, 1) between worlds; 2)a place of great peace/wisdom" and that this place is a; 3) "gift." and i'm still puzzled about what this between-ness is exactly.

    to fill a golden flask
    with a silken silver liquid,
sparkling with crushed crystals floating therein

what does "liquid" signify? love, beauty...? so is the reader to take it that he/she doesn't have access to such in "this" world? hmm.

"eyes of clarity" ---the speaker suggests that admission into this "between worlds" provides some deeper claim to truth or access to higher insights, perhaps. but the poem doesn't convince me.

    "briefest of glimpses"
"Give thanks" cliche, cliche. you can do better.

Pen, I would love to know more about all of this. Do you have any reading material you could recommend? Thanks.....

Hi Jon. Thank you for your comments on my poem. I always appreciate views from both angles. However I think you may have taken my words too literally. The interpretation, of course, is always up to the reader, but my personal idea is that "between worlds" is not so much a place as it is a state of mind.

..... so is the reader to take it that he/she doesn't have access to such in "this" world? hmm.
Since it's not a "place", everyone has access. Just choose to be there.

With all due respect, it isn't my intention to convince you (or anyone else). It's my take on the world -- nothing more, nothing less.

    "briefest of glimpses"
"Give thanks" cliche, cliche. you can do better.
Perhaps you're right about this. But my reasons for writing (and sharing) may be different than what you perceive.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated!
