As I walked the parks maimed by autumn

And knew it to be a vindication of living.

A scouring death
Wets my window-
But it is yet
To scar the glass.

In winds that are frugal
With their convoy
The fallen leaves do not dance
Out of the wet grass -
They only shiver.
