    Yellow elephant

Ok does anyone other than me remeber this song , and if you do do you know who sang it? Only they are looking for songs for the kids in the library and this one popped to mind.

"Today I met a yellow elephant walking through the park
His somthing was somthing , his somthing somthing
Hes the funniest elephant Ive ever seen
He was dressed up in pink pajams
and hat with pale blue rim

la la la bla blah blah

And this is what they said to him
yellow elephant hello elphant how are you today
    wont you come and play"

We used to have it on a tape but the car got broken into or somthing and it got nicked.
Hehe found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8oJqUg4Jqothis at least I know I didnt dream it up it
seems like we werent the only family of kids whod belt out the song if allowed to.

If I ever have kids and they sing that while I'm driving I might arrange to have the tape "stolen" as well
There once was a scotsman named Drew
Who put too much wine in his stew
    He felt a bit drunk
    And fell off his bunk
And landed smack into his shoe

erh, well... Roussau said it's nonsense to make little kids sing operas etc because they don't know what they're singing about anyway and their little croaky voices aren't suited for it... so he composed some children's songs with simple melodies...... might just as well have stuck with the operas

    Full lyrics!

I've been looking for these lyrics for a VERY long time and came across this web page and thread in the process. So I decided to register on the site to share the lyrics with you.

    YELLOW ELEPHANT (song lyrics)

Today I met a yellow elephant
    Walking through the park
    His trunk was red
    His ears were green
    He’s the funniest elephant
    I’ve ever seen
He was all dressed up in pink pyjamas
And a hat with a pale blue trim
The kids all cheered when he appeared
And this is what they sang to him:

    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    How are you today?
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    Won’t you come and play?
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    We don’t know your name
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    We’re so glad you came
    Won’t you join our game?

Kids all loved that yellow elephant
    More than they can say
They loved the way he waved his ears
He’s the funniest elephant they seem to hear
When he dips his trunk in the bucket of water
And drinks it till it’s dry
The kids all shout: You better watch out
Or he’ll squirt you right in the eye!
    Then they say:

    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    How are you today?
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    Won’t you come and play?
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    We don’t know your name
    Hello, elephant
    Yellow elephant
    We’re so glad you came
    Won’t you join our game?

Oh my is this a real song?
Which makes me think why do people like to impersonate animals. I find it most intriguing.
    it may never try
but when it does it sigh
    it is just that
    good
    it fly
