This thread continues on the SIX GAME REBOOT thread
on the chance this might get revived for at least a little bit, to answer cacian:
snow in the winter, rain in the summer! laughs...was that cheating? snow's gorgeous, have ~4inches outside right now, but apart from the fun of sledding, it also makes life a bit more challenging. rains great, but only when its warm. id take snow over cold and rainy but then who doesn't love "may flowers?"
an old western or a modern thriller?
"an old western or a modern thriller?": tough choice. I'm old enough to remember the allure of the old westerns, but I do like an intelligent thriller as long as it's not a kill-the-kiddies/slasher flick slanting toward the Sci-Fi genre. That being said prolly modern thriller my choice.
Film noir or classic comedy ?

i remember being a kid and sometimes when i stayed home for school, watching old westerns on the telly---something john wayne usually. i always hated when the horses got hurt.
if abbott and Costello qualify as "classic comedy", then that (or them) all day long! although, i really did enjoy the two sin city movies.
a john grisham legal thriller or a robin cook medical thriller?
Not familiar with either?
Martial arts movies (currently watching Ong Bak 2... ) or movies best known for car chases and the ilk ?

nooo, that cant be tailor. they have ~70 best sellers between them over the past 30-40 years, and over 20 movies made from their books with gene hackman, Julia Roberts, tom cruise, Samuel L Jackson, Sandra bullock, dustin Hoffman, etc.
a fun thing about car chase movies is looking for ways to make them unique.
I recently watched and enjoyed mad max: fury road which was pretty much a "car chase" the entire movie!
that's a fun question from a definition perspective. can a "martial arts" movie be one in which the main character merely uses martial arts (like a lot of the steven segal movies)? or do martial arts have to be a fundamental and integral part of the story?
I think either way though id lean towards the martial arts movies. so then the question becomes...!
movies that are centered in martial arts or movies that just have martial arts in them?
re: movies that are centered in martial arts or movies that just have martial arts in them?...
I don't see much distinction, at least in the movies I've viewed, but if I had to choose I would go with centered on.
Ip Man or Bruce Lee (or other _____________) ?

I stumbled across Ip man by borrowing some movies from a fellow we had working for us and enjoyed it. I don't know enough about him historically, so I can only go with the movie (maybe i'll find a book someday). plus, I really like Donnie yen. that said, bruce lee is huge and from my distant view, has probably been the single greatest influence in pop culture martial arts.
but still, maybe Ip Man by a nose....
have you seen bloodsport with jean-claude van damme?
grape juice or tomato juice? that's a major toughie for me, I love them both.
Saw FCVD's movie Kickboxer (1989) but I don't recall Bloodsport, may have seen it years ago. I like Donnie & Jet Li & Bruce too.
re: grape juice or tomato juice - Also enjoy both Edge to tomato juice via V8.
Bob Dylan or Dylan Thomas ?

its been a long time since ive seen either, but i have a vague memory of liking bloodsport better. plus its based on the true story of a fellow named frank dux, who had made a big splash in the martial arts world.
im a little bit young to have grown up with bob Dylan in his hay day, and i didn't become a big fan afterwards, like i did the beatles for instance. however, even though i have some Dylan Thomas, ive not read him yet. a slight edge for Dylan Thomas because of raging against the dying of the light, although ironically i understand his own death was very unlike the poem.
poems that rhyme or poems that don't?
Watched a retrospective on Bob Dylan recently that I liked and a Dylan Thomas short story (with more on queue) that I also enjoyed. For me the choice is nearly a push with an edge on Bob.
Since I prefer minimalism I'll go for don't.
