Imperialism is a main theme throughout the Heart of Darkness, but I think that Conrad is also explaining his views of Western civilization. How do you think Conrad critiqued imperialism in European nations? I think that he shows it by comparing Britain back in the day to Africa at current times. What events do you think had the biggest effect on how Conrad critiqued imperialism? This book was a requirement for one of my college courses and I am having a hard time analysing the deeper meaning. I have been been reflecting on these question as well as my whole History class and I am interested in other takes and views. Thanks.
