    A cute vignette!

    The Protagonist

    He sings at the first
hint of dawn and all day long,
    His heart in his throat!

Thanks for the link, tailor. Sadly the wet areas have been turned into dry areas in the last years with fires raging like in California. The difference is, that most of these areas seem to be inhabited by wildlife and birds but hardly by men. This video was shot in 2012. Things have gone much worde since then:

    Quagmire

    Wild waters recede
    on flatlands abandoned
    by shrinking wildlife.

    So sorry to hear

    droughts

    I hear the laments

    stars withhold their tears

I was amazed today at the number of honey bees, and a few bumblebees et al, busying themselves on the much maligned Yellow StarThistle... http://southwestdesertflora.com/Webs...r-thistle.html

    late september's buzz

    lowly starthistles
    reign with bright yellow florets
    virtue bees extol

Maybe they have less food choices, what with fires and other accidents that devastate the plants.

    Bumble, bumble bee,
    what kind of flower dishes
    Nature has for thee?

Soon there will be fewer choices for the bees (sigh).

a pity the plant is so invasive & harmful otherwise

    from my brief study
    upon the web; starthistle
    honey highly prized
