Question What Conrad novel/short novel should I read now?

I've read Nostromo, The Secret Agent, and Lord Jim, all of which I consider some of the best novels ever written and would all definitely make a top 10 of the 20th century list if I ever decided to make one.

Did he write anything else worthwhile (besides Heart of Darkness; I'll be reading that for English class in a few months)?

I really enjoyed "The Secret Sharer", which is one of his novellas, so it's not too long. I would definetely recommend it.

I loved "Heart of Darkness" too - I hope you enjoy it. On the surface not much happens, but when you look closer it raises so many issues that I could discuss the book for ages. I read it for a Travel Literature course, but I have friends who have read it for Literature and Science classes, and for English lit, so I'd say there's pleny of interesting themes and issues in there to explore.

I live near to where Conrad was buried and have seen his grave, so maybe that kinda kept my interest in him going, but whatever the reason, he's a fantastic writer.

I've heard it was a Crime and Punishment rehash. I didn't even like Crime and Punishment to begin with, so why would I want to read Conrad trying to be Dostoevsky?

quink: What about Typhoon and The Nigger of the Narcissus? Are those any good?
