If a person could always love,
As though their heart could never break,
The tears could never fall,
And the pain wouldn't take,
Would we love more,
Would we hate at all,
Would we guard our hearts a little less,
Play harder,
Join in more,
And forget the fears of letting go.
If we were to live each day as something new to discover,
Would we understand more,
Judge eachother less,
Live as though life could never die,
Love as though that river could never run dry,
As though you'd never have to say good-bye.
If people wore their hearts on their sleeve,
Open for all to see,
Would we be the Angels in disguise,
Or would it just be our demise,
What would life be,
If we could see into another's soul,
And feel what they feel?
Would it be too much to take,
Because we would know it wasn't fake?
What would the world be like if we all believed,
In something; in ourselves,
We wouldn't have to decieve,
In honor, in our love,
Would we faulter in our morals,
These are the lessons to be learned:
In our own truths,
The lies would be burned.
Would we still be running from our fears,
Still regretting all those tears,
Still trying so hard to keep our heart open to all,
And not flinch as someone comes your way,
Would we speak-up for what is right,
Stand-up to join a non-violent fight,
Make sure our voices are heard,
Make sure to remember that everyone is entitled to an unbroken heart,
Everyone has a right to the spotlight,
We all have a claim to fame,
And we all have a chance to help each other along the way.
What would life be like:
To never have another bruise,
To never have to cry alone,
Or be put down,
To never have to shudder in fear and pain again,
As the next insult comes your way,
Or to actually feel as though somewhere you belong,
You have something left to gain,
To never have to pretend for a while,
To never have something to lose,
To never have to chose.
Would these hopes ever,
set free,
Return to be,
Would we set free from all the pain and misery,
Return to see:
There's another way to live,
Would we ever return free?
These are the lessons to be learned,
The question you must ask is this:
Could we ever break free to see:
We can chose to not live in misery.
I'd love to hear any comments you may have.
