The days of now go slipping by
More demand and responsibility
I try so hard but want to cry
And somehow hide the fragility

My life is full but I cannot see
The love that’s there
Pressures capture and will not free
That person ‘me’ frozen by fear

Each challenge compounds unfinished things
Lost moments sacrificed for unknown reasons
Each new gold ring… is hope it brings
That elusive wealth with the changing seasons

Tomorrow brings me closer still
The day to ponder on what had been
Not yet, I have more time to fulfill
To achieve those things that must begin

My love is there by my side
Through thick and thin I have a friend
The doubt and fears I must hide
To provide her comfort to the bitter end

The little ones believe and their faith convicts
This charade of strength is my cross
They cannot see how this doubt afflicts
For them I muster or risk their loss

I strain to hold the ground just won
Shifting sands keep me guessing
The darkness is chased by the rising sun
The quiet interludes are welcome blessings

Tomorrow delivers new hope and shine
The day’s end the right to try again
I stand my ground until the end of time
The day to ponder…who knows when?
