    Thumbs up Animals

I have always been a fan of this book in particular, even if only for the difference between the animals society and the supposedly civilised human society, and the fact that if were all raised to love and respect all animals and our environment, we would be happier. My favourite animal would have to be Shere khan the tiger, I named my son after him (my son is now 1yr and he growls so he is well named)

Oh dear - if your favourite animal is Shere Khan then you've been Disneyed or politically corrected. In the Jungle Book stories as written, Shere Khan is a mean and cowardly bully who comes to a well-deserved bad end.

Of course, as the name means "Tiger King," it is, in itself, good name to carry through life. Good luck to the boy.

I suppose that is one way to put it.

Shere Khan is a coward. There's no way around it. He could be compared to some people.

Who is my favorite charactor? I suppose I am fond of several, Mowgli, Bagheera, and Akela primarily.
When ideas fail, words come in very handy.

My favorite animal in _The Jungle Book_ regarding the Mowgli stories would have to be mother wolf, or as Kipling calls her Raksha, The Demon. Otherwise, my favorite animal character is Riki-Tiki-Tavi.

Yes, but his mother called him Lungri, or Lame One.
