    who-is-who-doing-what

Interested readers of my last posts will be pleased to know that my research proves, beyond reasonable doubt, the following:

William Henry Allen (the 2nd) IS W.T Washington, active in Zante 1822-1825, IS William Henry Leoard Poe, IS Signor Cochini, agent of Egypt's viceroy, IS John Edward Trelawney (+13 August 1881)!!

Relative documentation may be provided to fully identified (name, address, position, phone nr etc) readers or institutions contacting me via this site.

Did Edgar meet bro Siignor Cochini Poe on his arrival, Hydra, late Sept 1827?

No! Cadet Guillelmo Townsend Washington is on record visiting an amateur Aegyptologist associate and mentor, 5 avril 1827, on his way to Paris.

Edgar Allen himself ,therefore, authored Al Aaraaf.

To the previous (post 274) the following must certainly be added :

Nikolaos Chalikiopoulos Mantzaros *26 October 1795 +12 April 1872) was a Greek-Italian composer born in Corfu, major representative and founder of the so-called Ionian School of music. Acc to his greek bio, he was married, 1813, to a "Mercadante" daughter of a Duke Antonio de M (not to be found on the web).
Mr Mantzaros put to music various works by Dion Solomos, Hymn to Liberty included.

    Champollion sr etc

Today's aegyptologists may perhaps be interested to check their ancient colleagues below, for an eventual identity mix-up:

    Jacques-Joseph Champollion-Figeac*Figeac (Lot), 05-10-1778+Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne), 09-05-1867

Giovanni Battista Belzoni (5 November 1778 – 3 December 1823), known as The Great Belzoni, was a prolific Italian explorer and one of the pioneers in plundering and trading Egyptian antiquities. He is known for his removal to England of the seven-tonne bust of Ramesses II, the clearing of sand from the entrance of the great temple at Abu Simbel, the discovery and documentation of the tomb of Seti I (still sometimes known as "Belzoni's Tomb"), including the Sarcophagus of Seti I, and the first to penetrate into the Pyramid of Khafre, the second pyramid of the Giza complex.

    as well as:

Marco Gatti (1778-1862) Italie Italian *03-11-1778, +02-05-1862 Professeur de rhétorique, de langue grecque, de lettres. - Député. - Archevêque

John Murray (27 November 1778 – 27 June 1843) , Scottish publisher and member of the John Murray publishing house.

    Adrien Boy-el- dieu *1775.

He actually spelled his name with a Y and did behave as a god as well: Arrogant in his private life, otherwise a top-notch diplomat/politician,gauleiter of all others of his time, hard working, meticulous for detail, very intelligent, proud of his accomplishments, never really cared to cover his tracks, leaving behind for everyone to examine, long lists of own operas and own libretti under even more names. Many of his associates, who new him well, died young!

The man who, for his own profit as another Chaliphe de Baghdad (an opera by him) laid the foundations of early modern Europe- and not only!

He ended up defeated by King Wurm, like any other lilliputian mortal!

As for Champollion jr, he was born 1795, died 1871- and so did all his other "selfs".

    The two Gordons of Missolongi.

    George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, FRS (22 January 1788 – 19 April 1824),

Thomas Gordon Major-General (1788 – 20 April 1841) , British army officer and historian, remembered for his role in the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s and 1830s and his History of the war published in 1832.

Working Hypothesis : Did the first really die or was his death staged?

    (to continue, readers contribution wellcome)
