i wondered if anyone had encountered these quotes i believe i remember hearing in lectures once.

one is by Virginia Poe, i think from a letter she wrote, in which she describes an "exquisite" headache which left her prostrate in a darkened room for hours focusing on the pain.

another is from Thomas Bernhard and is basically a stream of invective regarding his contempt for a sequence of specific occupations in society. he is reeling them off and shooting them down.

i could probably investigate these quotes myself if i looked through biographies and collected letters, and i guess i will do it someday, but being inclined to laziness i just thought it would be a lot easier for me if someone happened to have them handy! thanks.
