I enjoyed the book, although I found it cumbersome at times. However, I found the end a little confusing, because I assumed Isabel returned to Osmond, but then in reading some notes on James, I got the impression that she did not. Did she really find her own integrity at the end, as the notes suggested? Because to me, if she "saw the light" as the notes said, she would not have gone back--<br><br>and what was that weird exchange between Goodwood and Henrietta on the very last page all about? I didn't get it. I did get that she felt sorry for him, but I didn't understand the part about her "making him feel young again."<br><br>Anyone's responses are welcome!
