    Broken Bond

    Broken Bond

    With each push and pull
air is pumped into the dolphin floaty.

A photo with a facial image superimposed on itself as if turning
    back and forth.
The motion so intense, it's as if this person is being electrified.

The constant pumping is irritating because of a sensation it evokes.

The up and down, up and down is
to blow up a pool floaty; sweet and innocent childhood play.

At the airport after running from the hotel room, the escalator is creaking like the bed.
For a moment, the sound felt alarming until rationality kicked in.

Reliving the memory while the air pump moves up and down is sickening.
It was a violation too hard to believe,
    but it is so.

"I'm just fixing the sheets," as if the old man is running a horizontal marathon
legs and arms all in a rhythmic mess.

    Lightening strikes the heart
    contracting it,
and one is seizing as the sensations are crammed into the head.

Confrontation and words of anger yelled, "How could you do this while I'm in here?"

After leaving and escaping the harassment, a deep sense of betrayal sets in as innocence is rubbed out.

A sick and twisted violation against a niece by her uncle. The absolution of a bond broken.

Such an emotional poem set up by using innocent metaphors... a tragic vignette made more salient by rereading.
