You´re right, it´s incongruous. Made some changes in the poem above
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

    Love the changes

    Fog

    Dank and wet
    Beclouds my senses
    I enjoy its obscurity
    A misty haze

    Interesting poem!

    Going global

    If here the sun shines
    and there it rains
    And on the
    other side of the planet
    snow and ice abound
    what is the weather today?
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

Enjoyed your question poem Global weather today: is droughts/floods/snows/rains/haboobs/hails/sleets/tornadoes/tropical depressions/etc

Revised my latest poem above due to a bit of redundancy:

    Fog

    Fog…
    Its dankness
    Beclouds my senses
    Though I enjoy its obscurity
    A misty haze

Thanks. I prefer the first version of "Fog", it seems more intuitive ( less explanatory) to me. If you allow me the boldness of a suggestion:

    Fog

    Dank and wet
    Beclouds my senses
    wrapping them
    in a misty haze
    I enjoy its obscurity
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

    Tentatively

    Footprints in the sand,
    traces of words
    Outlined vultures
    fleeting lights
    where, oh where
    has my memory
    gone?
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

Quite existential... enjoyed the metaphors. I like your take on Fog.

    cherry blossom

    bright
    a lazy day
    a cherry blossom upon
    a young lady falls delicately
    light

    Marvelous mounds
    majestic mountains
    magnificent mesas

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. ~ Edgar Allan Poe

Missed this one Dark Muse... enjoyed

    malaise and ennui

    malaise and ennui
    they shackle me
    without my dreams
