Challenge: Grass, party, dancing, djinns, stairway, entrancing

    the grass widower before dining

    a grass widower myself
    I found it entrancing
    that the party before me
at the top of the stairway
    were two holiday elves
    fresh off the shelf
    stamping their boots
    absentmindedly
    to ward off the chill
of the snow of the day
    watching their shadows cast
    as fanciful djinns dancing
    or sparring with themselves
    with the utmost of skill
behind me in line a parakeet
    taking selfies, his date aghast
    at his utter conceit
tut-tutted by a trio of bandicoots

    Cute poem (a bit melancholy)!

    Challenge accepted!

Next: sphere, kettle, silence, snail, tear, dove

    The Dove and the Snail

    The dove and the snail
were a pair of improvable friends.
Once upon a month, the dove,
    tearing majestically
    through
    the atmosphere
    used to visit
    her terrestrial friend.
The snail then would put her small kettle on
for a cosy cup of tea.
    I assure you,
    in their conversation
    there wasn´t room for silence.

Next: spice, Orient, dancer, musk, overwhelming, glitter.

Delightful poem! Perhaps "improbable" in place of "improvable" if I scan correctly. "in their conversation / there wasn´t room for silence."

in the ancient court of an aging Khan

in the ancient court of an aging Khan
amidst the spices and musk and music
an Orient dancer's moves were over-
whelming - the senses of those in

skillful zills and gossamer silks alluring

Next: crescent, legend, Aldebaran, oasis, shower, gestalt.

    A Legend
    It was the night of
    the crescent moon.
    In the constellation of taurus
    shone exceptionally brightly.
    People thirsted in the caravans,
that daily traversed the scalding dessert.

    Suddenly a cry of joy
    shook the whole caravan.
A gentle shower poured from the sky
and they all rushed to fill pots and pans and bottles.

    They had hardly finished when
they beheld the gestalt of an oasis
    emerging in the horizon.
Alas! It was a Fata Morgana.

    Next:violet, trance,thistles, rhino, enchantment, crossing.

Challenge: violet, trance, thistles, rhino, enchantment, crossing

    dynastinae dash

    a rhino
    beetle heaves
    into the heavy air
    an entrance into
    enchantment bristling
    through thistles
    then tiptoes through
    violets crossing into
    the underbrush
    breathless from
    its short flight
    just in time for some
    rose hip tea with
    the færie queen

    But

But, who could put up with that cracked spa,
not even someone in transit or a virtual voyager
no relax, no body care any more and above all
    no harmony.
Even the birds in the nearby trees twittered angrily.

a grass widower set out to sea

Next: drawn, intrigue, quietly, lily-pond, feather, tension

    Lily and Ludy

    Lily was a flower
    and Ludy a white duck.
They both lived in the lily-pond
    among lilies and and cattails.
    and were happy.

    So far so good!
But then they were drawn into an intrigue
    by jealous Lolly.
    Tension in the quiet lake
    rose above a feather,
with all the cattails crying in unison.

    This went on
    until Metusaly,
the oldest duck in the pond
    made an end of it.
Lolly was confined to her room
    for three days
And peace returned to the lake.

Next: street, buildings, sundown, choir, church organ, festive.

Challenge: street, buildings, sundown, choir, church organ, festive

    another kind of light

    walking an unfamiliar
    street alone
    the buildings around me
    seemingly closing in
    oppressively after the sun
    had gone down
    when another kind of light
    shone from heav'n
    as a church organ began
    to play festively
    and my heart leapt
in my chest as I heard
    a choir singing old
    familiar hymns of
    Christmas and I instantly
    thought of home

A quietly moving poem. Enjoyed it very much!

Next: dungarees, scarecrow, willow, katydid, forget-me-not, pail

    The Scarecrow
It was a sight for all, who passed
    that somewhat dilapidated farm:
    old dungarees, checked shirt
and that pail on its head
instead of a decent straw hat.
And a big, radiant smile on its cotton face.
    Forget-me-not surrounded it.
    Katydids visited it.
The weeping willow bowed its head respectfully to it,
and the birds held ruidous meetings
    on its outstretched arms.

Next: mountain, slope, antlers, groundbreaking, antique, vegetation.

Challenge: mountain, slope, antlers, groundbreaking, antique, vegetation

    novel ideas

    novel ideas -
state of the art, off the grid... all the rage

groundbreaking - not lending to vegetation
off the beaten track - a pristine mountain slope
    with powdered snows yet untrodden

the cutting edge; ahead of the pack
earth shattering like a moose in an antique store
off the wall trophy antlers fresh out of the box

ahead of the curve, a bubbling verve
    best thing since sliced bread
fresh from the oven, ahead of its time,
half baked like music from the Grateful Dead
