    Delightful poem ! Enjoyed

    Challenge accepted !

Challenge: silence, earth, restless, domain, awareness, dove

    the singularity

    like doves
    the world
    moaned - then
    silence as
    a once
    restless Earth
    finds relief -

    a new
    awareness takes
    her first
    breath then
    beholds her
    domain through
    counterfeit tears

    rufous-bellied thrush-National bird! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rufous-bellied_thrush

    "Minha terra tem palmeiras
    onde canta o sabiá
    as aves que aqui gorjeiam
    não gorjeiam como lá."

("My homeland has got trees where the trush sings. The birds that sing here, don´t sing as the birds there.")
    Gonçalves Dias

Modest Symphony in Green and Yellow

Each afternoon when the sun is getting down
and I sit on my small balcony
I hear the song of the sabiá laranjeira.

    There are miriads of them
    hidden in the few trees
    that are left.

Night falls so gently to their song
(but what about the police cars racing through the streets?)

    Filtered through a prism
    the world looks serene.

But who is going to speak about
    the horrors of the night?
    The drunken cars,
    the lost bullets,
    the violence?

The thrush has long gone to sleep
and I gaze with renewed wonder and delight
    at the starlight.

Next: nation, flag, colors, citizens, flowers, bald eagle

Enjoyed very much Beautiful bird song. Lovely epigraph prefacing your poem The dichotomy of delightful birdsong and urban life is well versed. Loved the last stanza: "The thrush has long gone to sleep / and I gaze with renewed wonder and delight / at the starlight." !

Night falls gently lulled by their songn

    Filtered through a rainbow prism
    the world looks serene.

    But what about

    The drunken cars,
    the lost bullets,
    the hidden corpses?

The birds have long gone to sleep
and I gaze with renewed wonder and delight
    at the starlight.
But it´s the dark terror of the city
    that fills my dreams.

A corredted version of the poem in # 752 as I detected an in-congruence at the end
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

Challenge: nation, flag, colors, citizens, flowers, bald eagle

    ephemeral world

    each nation flies its colors
    a flag which embodies pride
to its citizens of like brothers
    and sisters who loosely abide

I would be like the bald eagle
    which soars where'er it soars
    preferring nature's flowers' regal
    hues which prithee will endure
