    and what now?

A ship arrived with a girl and she
set up her sun kissed shop
    selling tee shirts to tourists
    not far from the beach
who came to see what life could be
    on this island.

And it was always happy - then:
New lovers to give you that buzz
or fall in love with you which is better
and each grew so perfectly from the other
it was a wonder of life
    and, maybe, youth.

And in this place much was scary
    and indulgent
but no one seemed to mind
    very much
the parties went on from house to beach
and back to the house, til dawn

    There were friends and lovers
There was moonshine in the water
and everybody was happy to have discovered
    the answer to something

And one day the ship sailed away
There were no more people arriving
just people dozing motionless on the dock
    as if they knew something
among the trinkets and the souvenirs
the random shops and faded jewelry

and a storm came and said,
"it is time to take all of you away
from the tops of the trees to the little houses
    on small paths"

And when the storm became too much
and it was time to go
none of them would depart without the other
for they said we are all one here
and if one of us goes the other will not go
and the wind whispered something quietly
    to the stars
    and
    the people began leaving
and as they left - they tried
    to look back

    and could not.

It seems like a paradise island to visit and I had much fun reading this exotic story.

Try to live in harmony with people and nature

Beautiful and nostalgic in these days of taifuns!
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

Brings to mind a small vignette in the movie "The Other Side of Heaven"... another island, Tonga in this case.
