I’m not sure of the situation in the States and elsewhere in the world, but here in the UK during the pandemic, 99% of the TV interviews with politicians come from the homes of the interviewees.
However, what started as a peek into private domestic arrangements, has now given rise as to a fascination with bookshelf backdrops and their contents.
Thus, if inadvertently one has shelves full of Dennis Wheatly; or God forbid, no books at all, questions as to sagacious discernment in the field of literature arise among those viewing.
One bright capitalist enterprise can even provide suitably worn looking books for a fee to give credence to your views and tastes.
Whether genuine or not, one cannot help but note how there are now many in Her Majesty’s Government & loyal Opposition who prominently display tomes on: the environment, history, poetry and the classics. This indicates presumably, both a knowledge of, and a healthy interest in the current flavour of worldly concerns.
