    Pulp fiction

I am currently reading Nobody's Angel by Jack Clark, which is a Hard Case Crime publication. It is written by a taxi driver. Someone is bumping off taxi drivers, and someone else, or maybe the same person, is attacking prostitutes. It's great. I don't know why I torture myself reading great books by the likes of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Ford Madox Ford and James Joyce. They just bore and annoy me.
According to Aldous Huxley, D.H. Lawrence once said that Balzac was 'a gigantic dwarf', and in a sense the same is true of Dickens.

This was how Raymond Chandler first got into successful writing and being recognised.

You don't have to apologize for your likes or dislikes. Reading for pleasure is one of the best things anyone can do for himself , as well -- believe or not -- society in general.
