I pray it won’t rain
for you are slippery when wet,
and even high and dry
—the way you’ll leave me—
you’re hard to grasp
will you remember when
I handed you my opal

Good to see a literature site can be spammed to death, there'll still be a Jerrybaldy-pearl floating on the sh*ite… and good to see you didn't delete it :-) loved the rhyme of see/bumble bee/tv/sea,...
a milky winter's day
the whole world feels like foundering
we're swimming, pliant cattle in a ford,
chewing the cud,
which almost looks as if we
argued with each other
blurry buildings float...
No crown of thorns for me
but a gleaming halo of crop marks
hovering around my winter face
that hours of two-inch-bleeds
have transformed into an anaemic mask
I drag my feet through crowed...
thanks everyone for reading and commenting. I'm really glad you liked it :-)
Remember – at that age
when everything is stumbling words,
inquiring minds, self-righteousness,
we asked, 'What did you do in thirty-nine?'
Our granddad winked, then grinned,
he always had his...
what a feast, indeed! and what a feast to see you here – been a while :-)
thanks, kiz_paws, Dreamwoven and tonywait, for reading & commenting. Glad you liked it :-)
Sleet sweeps over
black-washed sidewalks
dark blots with hunched shoulders
trudge behind dogs that look like rats
our windows, fogged up,

Hey, Hawkman, glad to see you around :-) thanks for reading and commenting. I guess you're right about the "and"s, I shall correct it right now, thanks for pointing out this weakness. Glad you liked...
Thanks a lot, Tailor, and glad you liked it… as for pente / pende (5), it's actually written pente, but pronounced pende (with the "n" almost but not completely mute— there's no such letter as a "d"...
TY for reading, YesNo… yeah, I saw that the signature link led to strange places; dunno how that could've happened. I corrected the link now.
For me poetry is painting with words. Therefore I'm...
grins and insouciance,
tanned shoulders shrugging
under swaying plane trees,
black as thunder;
salt on their leaves,
and salt on our lips;
a singer croons about love,
or loss, or sinking ships...
@YesNo: Young and Alexander—will surely read their book asap. For the time being, though, I still have some serious doubts about your point of view. I cannot shake off the impression that the problem...
Let me throw in my twenty cents of wisdom (might be even less), and come back to the gender question.
First, I'm surprised that no one has brought up a clear definition of the discussed term yet....
Loved how you almost and so casually got "your dick out". To put the finger in the toaster seems to be a neat option, too, although not as visually rewarding as the out-taken dick (you might say it...
There's so much to love in this that I'd need to copy the whole poem if I wanted to point out my favourite passages, but for me, the wordplay with "bitter bill", and then the images of the "spider...
rolling hills, and roundabouts,
and fields, young shamrock green,
and clouds bulging with rain,
but which don’t burst, not yet,
just float indifferently
across a sky they shrink down
to a less...
Is there still hope for this place? Seeing two of my oldest and (with your permission) best LitNet friends again is something that makes me think there may be… So good to "see" you both, Aunty &...

Not knowing,
Not knowing and therefore going
Through bewilderment, doubt, despair,
Then text messages and emails
With shameful cheeks,
Probing and trying to piece together
Hints and sudden...

You lie there,
crumpled like the first sketch
of a farewell letter—
let me unfold you,
and with fever fingers
tremble a love poem
on your body

simple, really:

Sicilian widows,
wailing,
because rents

In addition to Dreamwoven's corrections, here are some more (and major ones):
- Diplomats: I gather you're talking about a "diploma" or several "diplomas" (as in certificates) not "diplomats" (as in...
Hi Danik, yes, ty, I'm fine – had a marvelous time back in Austria, unlike the poem's narrator ;-) Hope you are well, too :-) Thanks for commenting.
… I come back
barely
in bits and waves
the ceiling as blank as my mind
a question mark floats mid-air
suspended time expanding in a sigh
and it feels like morning o’clock
but the mobile on the...
