OK, so the time for judging is here! Phew, this has been such a difficult task, they are all really good poems and you've made it hard for me to choose. But there has to be a winner. First a word...
newspapers sell fear
a smidgeon of gossip, and
women with big boobs!
We were Strangers
We were strangers once.
Unknown faces in a swelling
human sea.
We moved with the rush of
the tide; flotsam and jetsam
floating aimlessly amongst
the crowds.
A sudden eddy...
Too many syllables Pen!
'Fun house'
the sign declared.
I wonder what's so fun
about it? Turn around and walk
away.
I'm not convinced that society is any worse now than in the past. I'm pretty sure, if you research through history, whatever time period you pick there will have been senseless violence (public...

Star Wars?
Ooh, Mr Hyde was much more interesting!
Dracula or Frankenstein?
14th Street - Rufus Wainwright

One of my own:
An Empty Heart
It takes me just a moment

Flooded
with emotions
conspiring to drown my

I like these motherhubbard, but I have to ask - what is a 'piss-ellem tree'?
A few more from me:
I am the person at the end of the queue
I am the last cigarette in the pack.
I am the browning...
flying
not falling, through
space the colour of ice,
the consistency of water.
Soaring.
love me even more
give me everything I want
devour your soul
Oh, I feel for you motherhubbard. Definitely not a lesson to learn the hard way!
you're welcome. It is a lovely name :)
We wait,
but know not what
we're waiting for. Always
expecting something much better
to come
don't talk to strangers
Of time
expect nothing
but a line, a passage
from then, to now, to an unknown
future
playing grownups fun
with whips, and things that vibrate,
not so innocent
top shelf
where all the best
things are. Placed beyond my
reach I stretch but cannot grasp the
