I really liked Song of Roland. It was possibly the first medieval lit that I actually enjoyed. I'm fond of the epicness, far fetched as it is... actually I think that might be why I like it.

Warning: completely unrelated to Arthur or any of his knights, stories, authors, or history whatsoever.
This topic has been dead for a month! Wah! I was hoping for some new tidbit or something to...
Haha, yeah, I really didn't like the first read through it, and I liked only bits the second time. I'm still curious about a third round. You should check out Indian Killer though. I actually liked...
A couple of his books were available on the Sony ebook site a couple years ago, but for some reason they took them down. :( I've seen Indian Killer and I want to say Lone Ranger and Tonto (but it...
Chiming in on this as much as I can. I read this book a long time ago, so I'm not 100% clear on details anymore - that and I would find it amazing if the OP from 2004 still has the same question in...
I'm hashing Knight's Tale to death, but wilde woman, did you get the part in Chretien's Lancelot that I was talking about earlier that they borrowed for the movie? When Lancelot is in the tournament...
Yup, he's the Black Prince. They say it a couple of times - it's why Will wins that first tournament. What's-his-face bad-guy withdraws because they find out Colville is really Prince Edward, but...
I agree with Cunninglinguist that Jack was, at least in the beginning, well intentioned. I think the obsession he derived from the hunt was his biggest problem. He was certainly competitive, and ...
I'm too distracted by the constant quakes to comment on much... but wasn't James Purefoy the Black Prince in A Knight's Tale? Was he supposed to be a villain? Totally missed that if it he was. :P ...
I enjoyed Louis L'Amour.
I usually write in my blog about whatever I've recently read, but I don't have any set way I go about it. Name and author, of course, usually a short summary, then my thoughts. Sometimes I'll pick...
Income tax here is pretty reasonable, but residence tax and all of the other things the government takes money for (sales and insurance to name two major ones) add up to be a lot. Where that money...
All of those old prejudices are really coming back to surface again, which is sad and utterly pointless (and stupid) in my opinion. Some of my Japanese friends here have started to get paranoid...
On my first encounter with the lion I had pictured a mountain lion, then thought about it some and thought maybe it was referring to an African lion or some menagerie escapee. I did some digging a...
I live in Tokyo (got stuck in another prefecture and had an adventure walking home last night), and Tokyo, at least, is good. I don't know about the nuclear plants... I'm ignoring that bit... :/...
My brother and I were watching "scary movies" with my dad's girlfriend's kids at a lake in northern Michigan. I think I was probably 11 or 12, so my brother was probably 14, and the other two kids...
I usually stick it through, unless it's abysmal. I've given up after the first chapter before, but only when it's really really. I got through about the first 100 pages of Sword of Shannara before...
I think they're pretty interesting. Please don't stop. It's fun to toss around ideas, even if they're not necessarily correct. That's what discussions are for. We're not all experts in a given...
He almost redeemed the Dark Tower books with the ending... almost... but then he had to 'spell it out' for the reader and go 'Did you get it? See? Did you get it?' :skep:
I was pretty disappointed...
The flu. I get loopy and tend to have either really vivid dreams or hallucinations (not sure which they are, really) when I have a high fever, and I was curled up on my floor really sick a few years...
It was a good writing weekend, got about 5k total on a few different things, and this week is shaping up to be a thoughtful week. Happy writing to everyone.
I just started reading The Prince today. I've never heard of it as a satire. The introduction to the edition I have, which was pretty helpful since I know nothing about Florence in the 15th century...
No, I haven't. I haven't seen it at the store since that post, and that's not something they carry at the rental store here.
Ohohoh! I just read Knight of the Fountain in the Mabinogion two days...
^__^ I love Star Wars!! I'm not too big on the newer three, or the cartoon, but I still love the originals and the universe. I've read a bunch of the novels, though none of the post-original trilogy...
This is slightly off topic, but I just finished reading Mists of Avalon. I'd read it when I was 12 and really really did not get it apparently. A+ for idea on that, I do like the view points she...
