The OP regrets to inform Dieter that he is in violation of the rules! No German compound nouns... especially ones with gaps in the middle! Tut, tut... ;)
Bollinger.
Bodacious.
I herewith solemnly protest against this unjustified treatment and would like to suggest the OP checks this thread's rules!
Thus my input is entirely eligible for the election of the best one-word-poem ever! Anyway, I suspect the OP is simply jealous that we German-speaking lads have the possibility to compose a single word telling a whole story. The above-mentioned one-word poem means "modification of the law reducing the pension of widows of captains having worked for the steamship company on the Danube". In one single word. ;-)
As for the space, that's not my working. Apparently this forum, openly discriminating my beautiful mother language, won't suffer so long a word without adding, without my consent, an arbitrary gap! I herewith protest a second time, most vividly!
LOL
Schadenfreude. :P
Vierungsturm
(PS: and please do tell me if you really use this word in English—'tis one of my former English teacher's myths, and I'd really like to know if she was telling us the truth or if she was taking us for complete daftballs… ty)
The OP stands corrected! I could have sworn I'd ruled them out, but memory is fallible, alas. As for the gap, well, you are forgiven if it is one of those annoying little features of the site :D
I must say that I've never heard anyone use Vierungsturm, which I understand to mean "transept," though charming Gemanisms like flammenwerfer and Sturmgewher I hear bandied about all the time!
