Thank you no.
Horsehair shirts, a tonseled pate and sandals are not my idea of a fashion statement.

I would think that the role of piety is rather variable. If piety is essentially the reverence for a God, then role or function of piety would be showing respect for that God.
Dress codes and dietary rules are ways of showing that certain people belong a certain group.
interesting
piety towards a god
some dress codes are piety towards one being to another usually the opposite sex
take the priest
his dress code envisages to show he has a different allegiance to the world that he is beyond others
the burka
the woman is pious towards her opposite sex and not god in this instance
Initially I didn't understand what dress codes had to do with piety, but then I didn't know what piety meant. I'm beginning to understand.
I don't see women in burkas where I live, but I don't like someone hiding behind their costume whether that is a ski mask or a burka. If it is really cold, I could see the ski mask. It should be taken off once one enters a building, especially a bank.
Perhaps piety is respect for a culture's rules of behavior whatever they are. Sometimes Jewish men wear a skull-cap or kippa since Maimonides required that the head be covered during prayer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kippah I wonder if dressing up to go to temple or church would be part of piety.
From my perspective a dress code of a faith in the temporal sense denotes unity; in the spiritual sense a taking on of covenants: (wikipedia) "a promise to God whereby He also promises blessings in return". Piety is showing respect and love; a reverence and deference to the Divine.
