One Day in Garden Valley
Hephzibah said this time soon would come
Uriah, just two, instinctively sucking his thumb
Rose to catch his streaking kitten "Mitts"
Rollicking through the debris field, its
Answer to the upheaval was perpetual motion
Hephzibah gasped through all the commotion
For the day had come as it once was foretold
Outside Garden Valley, the whole earth enrolled
Raged Armageddon - bells for the innocent tolled
It took more than an instant, I remember it clear
Surprised at my lucidness as it would appear
Rearranged matter, and me, blinked and wrinkled
About a halcyon memory beyond all time, twinkled
Eternity!, at last, I now understood - His plan where
Love conquers all come to fruition: I heard trumpets blare

Good idea Cacian!
Lol! Gathering from this Armagedon poem that there is a new kitten "Mitts" in the family.
The end of the world
They say the world is ending...
That nuclear war...
Global warming...
The thawing of the Pools...
They say humans are estranged,
killing each other for futile reasons
animals are dying in the heat
Know what
I am packing my bags and
airing my intergalactic wings
to look for better worlds.
@Taylor.LoL! I hope sincerely that you never ever will name an innocent cat Hephzibah or
Uriah(This last remains me of the slippery Uriah Heep in David Copperfield). What gave me the idea of a new kitten was "to catch his streaking kitten "Mitts".
When violence strikes,
there are no words,
even nonsense has its limits.
there is just the horror of belonging
to an ever narrowing world.

Your poem speaks so true. Yes, so sad about Salman Rushdie. Freedom of speech comes with a terrible cost in my country ~ be it from our neighbors, government, or others :( Recent example: https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movi...-race-1293144/
