Which antivirus? Close all programs, update it, scan the whole system, resolve the problems and restart. Use Firefox or Google Chrome, not IE.
I'm not getting anything 'cause I use Linux.
I certainly am not, any pages in particular?
I'm using a trial of Kaspersky. It doesn't seem to be any pages in particular, I clicked on some random stuff and it showed up. It's about every other time I click something, and it's only happening on this site. I hope it's an error.
Post a screenshot. Press "PrtSc" button, Ctrl+V it in MS Paint or any other image editing program, save it as JPG/PNG, upload it to ImageShack or any other image hosting site and post a link here.
In addition to all this: clear your browser cache and temporary files.
Chris, my anti-virus blocked an attack this morning, and the only sites I was actively surfing was the forum and Yahoo. I wondered if someone wanted to get rid of me, though I am not tech savvy enough to know if this fits teashi's issue.
I did a full scan. It was still showing up after. I've blocked advertisements now, and I think that was the problem somehow, because the virus messages don't pop up anymore.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Well, I am stoopid about this stuff, so can't say. A virus actually came through the anti-virus software that came with this laptop, and the geeks fixed it and switched the software; that was last year.
Edit: Chris, everytime I surf around LN now I am getting a blocked attack; it is beginning to make me jumpy.
Some security software is overzealous and will block perfectly benign things, without knowing more about what it says it is blocking, I can't really address it.
But, assuming the site wasn't hacked and malicious code inserted, there really is nothing malicious on the forums.
On the main site the ad networks used could possibly let something malicious slip in, so it is a possibility (but remote) but the forums, definitely not.
