scraps of mercantile pride subsumed
'neath the ashes of freedom's altar
veiled limbs dissected, liberated
manifests for future generations
residual smoke from sacristy
purifying canopic shards
frankincense, myrth strained
into flaring nostrils
brailled dreams
into dilated eyes
as a sad siren
echoes unspoken words
rises to a crescendo
exhaling liberty's curse
