What is the last movie you saw? and rate it.

Way way way way back in college we read Beowulf in the original Old English.
Critics proclaimed the 1971 novel from the monster's point of view, "Grendel "by the late U. of Buffalo professor John Gardner as first rate.
Not too long ago I saw a version of the epic on the Science Fiction channel; it was extremely well-done, and had excellent production values esp. considering that this was a cable channel. I haven't seen the current Hollywood version, but I've seen still photos and read reviews, so to answer the q. as to whether the movie deviates from the poem: I don't think it
accurately follows the original. One thing I do know is that Grendel's mother didn't look ANYTHING like Angelina Jolie.

:lol: :lol: :lol: Oh NO, is she is that??? :lol: and is Brad Pitt dressed up to portray Beowulf? I am not too sure that I should see the film now. Is it all effects and fluff? I am actually starting to hate special effects and CGI - thought I would never say that being an artist.

Anyway, I liked the film. I have never read the novel to compare them to each other. I do know that I got such a kick out of this film. I think it is so twisted! Christian Bale is great in it! He is just so sick! It is a little bloodier than what I prefer (I can handle all sorts of films, but this one just seemed bloodier to me). Still, though, I actually enjoyed it. I have watched it more than once when it has been on TV just because I find Bale entertaining. So, for the other performances, I think I might give it 8/10. For Bale, though, I would definitely give it a 10/10 for every scene he is in! His performance alone is worth the time spent watching it!

I have read the book, LadyW, and it's very good. The film isn't much different, I would say that it is relativelie faithful to the novel. Christian is God!!!

I have lost track, Amalia, what film are we talking about?

I saw Beowulf as well - in 3D. It was pretty good 'cept those annoying glasses kept itching my nose like mad. (Glasses ontop of glasses, can you imagen? It's a pain.) But anyhow, it was a bit too gory for my taste - and Grendel was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in my life, but I think that's the point.

Rating? 8.5/10

Grindhouse: Planet Terror. The Robert Rodriguez directed half of Grindhouse. This movie set out to pay homage to the 70's exploitation films. The acting, the plot, and the characters are all unbelievably campy yet pretty funny and definately gory. Great Zombie movie. 8.75/10

Anyone seen Persepolis yet?

Sunshine 3/10. It was so rubbish that we paused it part was through to watch the hailstone instead.

It's a new film directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later etc.). The only actor I know who is in it is Cillian Murphy who starred in 28 Days Later.

:) I actually just looked into it, the movie your thinking of is in fact titled Sunshine. However it is from 1999. The movie the Fifth Element was talking about (I assume) was a film that just came out this year.

Saw Beowolf! They did a really good job with that! I really Enjoyed it! 9/10!

Queen of the damned. I know its pants with really really bad acting and a really Really bad script but i was bored.

Transformers. Still think this was great. Bumblebee rules!

I Robot. Cool.
