False Friend
Promises promises!
You waffle on about
how I owe you
but I think you slipped the word
into my latte like sugar,
with your own stained teaspoon.
Stirring in another obligation to you
through coffee you paid for,
each time we walked
down cappuccino strip.

I like the caffeination metaphor :) - and not at all frothy!

The word choices in this one are apt-- "waffle" and "latte," "sugar" which contrast with the saccharine aspects of the so-called "friendship." Obviously the speaker ought to get a friend who'll spring for coffee (or something stronger) without keeping track.
