You hoo... I particularly liked the Mother's Day story. Your little angel is just like my little angel. They are forever seeing the world as this fantastic place that tickles and loves them.

Hey Virgil, my sister should be fine--as she is in another part of the state. It did hit a city where some friends of mine live and I'm getting ready to send them an email to find out how they are. I guess I think they'll be OK. I sure hope I'm right. Actually, the town that was hit was also hit about ten years ago, and it was also a massive tornado, about a mile wide. I wonder if it, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer's hometown, is some portal between dimensions. Just wondering.

Thank you for asking, Virgil. How are you all recovering from Sandy, btw?

Hey. Your blogs are really well-written. You are gifted at prose. I just read the one on the new pope and enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks Virgil! That's a really nice thing to say! Why are you not on the boards much these days? Is it the usual work/time pressures? Whatever it is, I hope you are keeping well!

Virgil, took me a long time to respond to your visitor message but I'm back! If I do go to a law school in NYC, I'd love to grab lunch with you some day!

I'm still gunning for NYU and Columbia pretty hard, along with Chicago, Harvard, and University of Pennsylvania.

Well, Virgil... it looks like I may be joining you in limiting my postings to the blogs. After having several art threads closed that I had spent considerable time on due to the trollish behavior of certain unstable members... and poor moderation I should add... I can't see wasting the effort again.

Hi Virgil, how are you? Hope you and your family had a nice Christmas.
My new year’s resolution is to read more fiction books again and to re-join LitNet.
    See you around : )

Virgil, Ever since they updated the forum you can't read my blog as the text is now white against a pale background. It's different, and I don't know how to change it. I wondered if you could tell me how to do that? And it's OK if you can't. I'm sure at some point I'll get it figured out.

Darling blog on Matthew; I'll comment tomorrow.

    Thanks!

by Virgil on 05-13-2013 at 10:57 PM
Yesterday was Mother's Day in the US. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I offer this neat video clip, titled, "All Things Mothers Say In A Day" sung to the exuberant finale of Rossini's William Tell Overture.

Stones Play "Emotional Rescue" Live

by Virgil on 05-09-2013 at 09:17 PM
The big news from the new Rolling Stones tour is that they have included the song "Emotional Rescue" into their set list. You may wonder why that is such big news, especially since the song reached number three on the US charts when it came out as a single back in 1980. It’s certainly not every song that breaks the top ten. The album, also called “Emotional Rescue” broke to number one. Not bad for an album where the band doesn’t follow it up with a tour. I remember that summer it came

Mama's Finger: Update Post Operation

by Virgil on 04-17-2013 at 11:30 PM
Well, my mother had her operation on her finger Wednesday. You can read about the need in my previous blog entry. All went well. The only hangup was trying to get one of her earrings off. She was to take all jewelery off, but no matter how we tried we couldn't unclasp the right one. The nurse put tape over it, something about it getting too hot during the operation and burning her. I can't say I understand. It had no bearing on the operation.

The operation took under

Mama’s Finger

by Virgil on 04-13-2013 at 12:42 AM
Let’s start with my mother being seventy-nine. She’s a strong seventy-nine, but still she’s actually closer to her eightieth birthday than the one she just passed. She has slowed down since her hip replacement from four years ago, but still she gardens and walks, and now that my brother has been away she’s living alone. Living alone actually gives her less to do because when my brother and his wife are at her house, she cooks and cleans for them as if she was forty years old and they were teenagers.

My Thoughts on the New Pope

by Virgil on 03-18-2013 at 10:27 PM
I don't know if there are any Catholics left on Lit Net, but there still many be a person or two who might be interested in my thoughts on this subject. I wrote this for somewhere else, but I'll share.

First, it was an incredible surprise on the timing. Not much more than a couple of hours (maybe it wasn’t even that long) before the white smoke I had just finished reading a blog by a church historian on how long some of these conclaves take to come to a decision. He was
