    Hello Virgil,

Would you be at all too busy to take a look at two poems I recently posted to my blog? I'd really appreciate your input; it's always helpful.

Aside from the above request, how have you been?
  2. Hi. I read the blog entry. I wish the procedure wasn't all this time consuming and uncertain. But it is worth going through for Matthew. Wish you all the luck and a lot of patience.

Thanks a lot, you are right, I went for a walk in this medieval village this morning and I felt grateful that I can spend 3 months in this beautiful place, it is so full of history and I feel that nothing wrong can ever happen to me in this place... it is so out of this world.

I'm about three posts into your piece of James criticism (http://www.online-literature.com/for...t=49425&page=9). I'll probably respond tomorrow when I can get into the library and take out a few books I need. I'll say now, though, that you might want to look into what's known as the Jamesian point of view. James is famous for countering the omniscient (and opinionated) narrators of early Realist writers with a narration that generates from a character's point of view. Your posts seem (this may not have been your intent) to start from the assumption that in order for the story to work there has to be a coherent extra-character perspective. This would go against a lot of what James himself argued for, and what later critics built his reputation on. Overall, though, your post is thought-provoking and well-researched.

Hi Virgil, I read your dissertation(!) on Turn of the Screw, good stuff, I'll get back to you at a later date on that.

Are you still in kazakhstan? Was it Kazakhstan? I don't really read the blogs so I'm not up to date with all that sort of stuff.

I do plan to go through the 'old' blog entries cuz I have missed a lot around here methinks.
Leave us just say that you and PnB are two kindly and dedicated people that deserve only the best. Positive thoughts and hugs are sent to you all!

For those of us who were regulars here on Lit Net many years ago and remember Janine, I'm saddened to report that on November 27th, 2018, our dear friend passed away. She was 68 years old. Eternal rest grant unto Janine, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Matthew and Shakespeare

by Virgil on 12-18-2017 at 10:01 PM
Let me copy this over from my personal blog. Matthew is my son and you can go back into my past blogs to learn more about him and our adoption. Anyway he's eight years old now. This happened the other day.

OK, I was reading a Shakespeare play (Henry VI, Part 1) out of my big complete volume containing all of Shakespeare’s plays and poetry. The binding is literally at least six inches thick, and is about eight by ten in dimension. It’s a big book.

New Family Member: Tiger

by Virgil on 05-24-2015 at 09:25 PM
Those that know me here know that my wife and I have been dog people all our lives, but last week Matthew and I stumbled upon a little kitten beside our house and of course found him irresistible. We now have a kitten to add to our rambunctious dog and hyperactive son. I posted a summary on my personal blog, but here are the first two paragraphs:

Of course this was completely unplanned. Thursday, May 14th (I date it for posterity’s sake) after dinner at about half past six Matthew

My 2014 Reads

by Virgil on 01-31-2015 at 10:38 PM
Hi all

I haven't been on in a while. I think I last mentioned we had a new pup in the family, and she has been a handful. I don't remember my other pups driving us crazy like this one. So since my wife was with her all day, I had to give up part of my evenings to releave her and stay with the dog. Evenings after work is my usual computer time, and there was no way this pooch was going to let me be.

Then just after Christmas my computer went bonkers and after looking

A New Addition to the Family

by Virgil on 10-07-2014 at 08:57 PM
Well, we've enlarged our family with a new four legged member, a black Labrador Retriever pup. She's special, and just as cute as can be. I can't remember how to upload pictures here on Lit Net, so if you're interested, come by my Ashes blog to see:

http://ashesfromburntroses.blogspot....day-rosie.html

And actually you can see the breeder's litter of pups at an earlier post, posted before we were able to select one.
