Hello sir! (sorry, force of habit)

Thank you for accepting my friend request.
Dead Poets' Society is also one of my favorite films. Another is Emperor's Club, I don't know if you've heard of it. It's a nice movie, also about a teacher.
You must be one heck of teacher! LOL! I'd be delighted to be one of your students!
Do I really sound that old? I'm only 18 and a freshman in college.
Might I ask what subject you teach?

*laughing* A parade of hermaphrodites? What on earth can it mean, jon?

Ha ha. It was a good use of tresses though and I did really love that poem.

Well, it is a good stanza. Just goes to show that even those forbidden words can be put to good use But I like the creeping. Creep some more

I think that someone should write a poem using all the forbidden words but hey, just checked the thread and it already stretches to Timbuktu and back. You've been busy!

yes I remembered you like Oasis. I have a love/hate relationship with Oasis. I like the music but don't like the Gallaghers. I think they were too busy rolling in their cash, getting married, getting divorced and hitting people to make music for a while. Oh, now I think about it actually I think they fell out.

Oh, my fault entirely, please accept my apologies. I usually remember facts very well but I was wrong about that. The gods punish hubris. The wikipedia article about him claims he fell into bouts of depression and heavy drug and alcohol abuse. It's obviously a good reminder not to believe them as a good source for everything. My opinions are reset, completely neutral about him, until I learn from an accurate source.

Hey Jon. Maybe I shall read the whole book, a little at a time then. I did just read the first few chapters. He was on the mountain, he was talking about the mountain, named Hozomeen. One point he calls himself the "Void pretending to be a man pretending not to know the Void--"

I like what he said a few lines above that, "Hold together, Jack, pass through everything, and everything is one dream, one appearance, one flash, one sad eye, one crystal lucid mystery, one word-- Hold still, man, regain your love of life and go down from this mountain and simply be--be--be the infinite fertilities of the one mind of infinity, make no comments, complaints, criticisms, appraisals, avowals, sayings, shooting stars of thought, just flow, flow, be you all, be you what it is, it is only what it always is-- Hope is a word like a snow-drift-- This is the Great Knowing, this is the Awakening, this is Voidness- So shut up, live, travel, adventure, bless and dont be sorry ..."

That's what I said when I liked some of his ideas. It's a shame he had problems with chemicals, though I don't know too much about that, just that I read he had heroine addiction problems. There is some truth in what he said, but if you can't put down the cigarette, or put down the glass, I feel that sould really take precedence.

I do like the description "be the infinite fertilities of the one mind of infinity." And accepting one's place and not trying to force control on circumstances is a Buddhist and also Hindu concept. There was a revered saint Sri Anandamayi Ma who would say this often, "Ja hoye jay," which I read means "All is according to the wonderful play of the divine." Said to be a reminder to have faith in the divine, and not try to assert control based on our desires, but to serve the divine in the best way we are able.

I live in Kansas City, Missouri and I assumed it was here, but I was looking online and I didn't see if Burroughs lived here, so I'll ask my friend where he lived at the time.

I got a Kerouac book from a friend when he moved, Desolation Angels. I read some; I liked some of his ideas, but not the writing style so much, so I probably won't finish it.

Hey Jon, I didn't know you were a Beatnik. A friend of mine says he lived 5 blocks away from Burroughs for years but never met him. Another guy, not a friend but an acquaintance, said he used to have a whole lot of memorabilia, a fair amount of it signed by Burroughs, but he sold it all or most if it.

I'll back off from the magma if you leave my gaggles alone.

You haven't read my poem? I'll let you read it but only if you promise to do so in the voice of Noel Gallagher...

Didn't you say something about not using the word 'poetry' in poetry: http://www.online-literature.com/forums/blog.php?b=7315

"He was nauseous with regret when he saw her face again, and when, as of yore, he pleaded and begged at her knees for the joy of her being. She understood Neal; she stroked his hair; she knew he was mad."
