  1. Thank you for accepting it.

I did not realize there was a new movie version coming out.

Thank you for the friendship request. I have really enjoyed your ongoing discussion of "Wuthering Heights". I think it's time for a re-read, especially as there is a new movie version of it coming out, and I want to see that, too.

Hello Kev, I regret to say I haven't. I have it on my (long term) list, so it's not on my shelf yet.

No, I haven't watched it, because we got home too late and my hubby wasn't interested (then we always get home late) , but I'll see when the repeat is. Seemed interesting. They did really push the boat out, so it seems, although it remains to be seen if you read the novel. I'll need to have a look.
  5. I am a PhD student but nothing to do with English literature. I didn't entirely like Tess but aspects of it were interesting. Tess has probably been distracting me from what I should be doing.

    Are you a student?

The dedication you are pouring over Tess is unique.
  7. Hi, it's nice to meet another fan of Thomas Hardy.

Yes the misery fest part is not a bad prediction but I'll not say no more. Though I suppose you could substitute the idea of tragedy for realism.

    Kind regards,

  9. A bit unsure. I don't think Hardy would have won any plain English awards. I am also concerned this will be a Conrad/Orwell/Steinbeck type misery-fest. OTOH, I thought the depiction of the rape seemed very realistic. I read a book about acquaintance rape a while ago, and a lot of it chimed; even the driving back home of the victim by the rapist.

Oh hi, how are you getting on with Tess?
